Greetings Fellow Carvers:
We invite you to come share with us, our 23nd annual Artistry in Wood. It
will be held in the Pavilion at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe
Washington on April 19th and 20th, 2008.
In addition to the juried, show there will be vendors, demonstrations and
an Ongoing “Hands on Carving Corner” with teachers available all
day where visitors (over age 15) may, for a $5.00 donation, receive a blank
and two hours of instruction by experienced carvers on basic cuts and techniques
used to carve their blank. A protective glove and bench knife will be provided
for your use during the class. There is space for anyone interested in setting
up a table to sell carvings. Contact Sandy Scism (360) 387-6701, for table
arrangements. Vendor Tables are $20.00 ea.
Our annual MOST VERSATILE CARVER AWARD (cat. 621), has a $50.00 cash award.
The ANNUAL THEME AWARD (cat. 622), has a $50.00 cash award.
Participating in a show is a learning experience. Along with the competition
you meet new friends and learn new techniques. Ask to have your piece critiqued
by a judge.
DRAWING FOR CASH PRIZES FOR CARVERS ENTERING PIECES
Each carver will receive a numbered "Claim Stub" for each piece
entered in the show (two entries = two ticket stubs, 6 entries = 6 stubs),
a duplicate stub will be entered in the drawing box, and Sunday afternoon
a drawing for the cash prizes will take place. Every carver entered in the
show, regardless of skill level, will have an equal opportunity to win the
cash prizes. The carver need not be present at the time of the drawing to
win.
